Websites Engineered for Speed and Scale

A great-looking website is only part of the equation. It also has to function properly, load fast and behave across every device. We build cleanly, scalably and around business need.

Front-end, back-end, mobile responsiveness, speed optimization, integrations and custom functionality — from a corporate site to a full custom web application. Performance is a build decision, not a cleanup task.

Core Web Vitals targets Accessible markup No library bloat

what it is.

The half of a website nobody sees and everybody feels

Web development is the engineering underneath the design: the markup and styling that render the page, the server-side logic that makes it do things, the integrations that connect it to your other systems, and the performance work that decides how quickly any of it appears.

It is also where most website disappointment originates. A design signed off enthusiastically becomes a slow, fragile site because the build treated speed, accessibility and structure as things to address later. They cannot be addressed later — not cheaply.

We build lean. Minimal markup, right-sized images, no framework loaded to solve a problem that did not need one. That is partly craft and partly commercial: Core Web Vitals now sit between your site and its search ranking, so a slow site is a marketing cost as well as an engineering one.

what we build.

Six parts of a development engagement

From a marketing site to a custom application, these are the pieces. Which of them dominate depends entirely on what the site has to do.

{01}

Front-End Development

Semantic, accessible markup and CSS that renders fast and degrades gracefully. Interactive behaviour written in vanilla JavaScript where a framework would only add weight.

  • Semantic HTML
  • Modern CSS
  • Vanilla JS
  • Progressive enhancement
{02}

Back-End & APIs

Server-side logic, databases and API work for sites that need to do more than present information — portals, calculators, booking, gated content, custom workflows.

  • Server logic
  • Databases
  • REST APIs
  • Authentication
{03}

Performance Engineering

Core Web Vitals treated as a requirement rather than a report card. Image strategy, critical CSS, deferred scripts, caching and font loading, measured on real devices.

  • LCP
  • CLS
  • INP
  • Caching
{04}

Integrations

Connecting the site to the systems your business already runs — CRM, ERP, payment providers, marketing automation, analytics, booking and inventory.

  • CRM
  • Payments
  • Marketing tools
  • Third-party APIs
{05}

Accessibility & Standards

Keyboard navigation, focus states, colour contrast and screen-reader semantics built in. It widens your audience and reduces your legal exposure at the same time.

Maintenance & Support

Updates, security patching, backups, uptime monitoring and ongoing improvements — available if you want it, never a condition of working with us.

why it matters.

Speed is now a ranking factor and a revenue factor

A visitor does not diagnose a slow website. They leave, and they attribute the feeling to your business rather than your hosting.

Core Web Vitals put page experience directly into search ranking, which means engineering decisions now affect how many people find you at all. A site that takes four seconds to become usable is losing traffic before anyone judges the design.

The same is true of accessibility. Keyboard navigation and proper semantics are the difference between a site some of your audience can use and one all of it can — and they are far cheaper to build in than to retrofit.

Ranking Page experience signals sit between your content and its position in search results.
Retention Every additional second before a page becomes usable costs a measurable share of visitors.
Reach Accessible markup means your site works for keyboard and screen-reader users, not just most people.

how we work.

From signed-off design to a site you can run yourself

01

Scope

What the site has to do, what it has to integrate with, and what has to be editable afterwards. Technical decisions follow from that, not from preference.

02

Architect

Stack, data structure, URL structure and integration plan. Agreed before building, because reversing these later is expensive.

03

Build

Front-end and back-end development against the signed-off design, with performance and accessibility as requirements in the definition of done.

04

Integrate

CRM, payments, analytics and any third-party systems connected and tested with real data rather than placeholders.

05

Test

Cross-browser and cross-device testing, Core Web Vitals, forms, error states and SEO checks before go-live.

06

Launch & support

Deployment, monitoring and a handover walkthrough so your team can run it. Ongoing maintenance if you want it.

why bumsa.

How we build differently

{01}

Performance is in the definition of done

Speed is not a phase after launch. Lean markup, right-sized images and no unnecessary libraries, because retrofitting performance costs more and achieves less.

{02}

We build what we designed

Design and development sit in one team, so intent survives into the build. No arguing with another vendor about what the design meant.

{03}

Accessible by default

WCAG AA contrast, keyboard navigation and proper semantics are standard. It is the right call ethically and the cheap call commercially.

{04}

You can run it without us

Content stays editable by your team and we walk you through it at handover. No proprietary lock-in, no invoice for changing a phone number.

Web development, answered

The questions clients ask before commissioning a build.

Site running slow? Send us the URL. We will tell you what is actually causing it and whether it needs a rebuild or a fix. Request Proposal
01.What is the difference between web design and web development?
Web design focuses on the visual appearance and user experience of a website, including layout, branding, and interface elements. Web development focuses on building the actual functionality and structure that makes the website work.
02.Do you build custom sites or use WordPress?
Both, depending on what you need to manage and what the site has to do. WordPress suits most marketing sites; a custom build suits applications, unusual workflows or heavy integrations. We will recommend the one that fits, not the one we prefer.
03.Can you build a web application, not just a website?
Yes. Portals, calculators, booking systems, gated content and custom workflows are all within scope, with the server-side logic and authentication that go with them.
04.Can you work with our existing site?
Usually. We can take over an existing build, fix what is broken and extend it, rather than insisting on starting over. Whether that is the right call depends on what we find.
01.Why is our current site slow?
Most often oversized images, too many third-party scripts, and a theme or plugin stack doing far more work than the site needs. We measure before diagnosing, because the obvious culprit is frequently not the real one.
02.What are Core Web Vitals and do they matter?
They are Google’s measures of loading, interactivity and visual stability, and they feed into search ranking. They matter both for visibility and because they correlate with whether visitors stay.
03.Do you use frameworks like React?
Only where the complexity justifies it. A marketing site loading a heavy framework to render static content is paying a speed penalty for nothing. We choose the lightest thing that does the job.
04.Will the site be accessible?
Yes — WCAG AA contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states and screen-reader semantics are built in as standard rather than quoted as an extra.
01.Can you integrate with our CRM or other systems?
Yes. CRM, ERP, payment providers, marketing automation, booking and inventory systems are all common integrations. We test them with real data before launch.
02.Will our team be able to update the site?
That is the point. We build so your team can change text, images and pages without a developer, and we walk you through it at handover.
03.Do you provide ongoing maintenance?
If you want it — updates, security, backups, uptime monitoring and improvements. Plenty of clients take the keys and run it themselves, which is equally fine.
04.Who owns the code?
You do, along with the repository and hosting. No proprietary platform, no hostage hosting, no licensing that follows you around.
